Crisis, General, & Other Assistance

 

  • Aging and Disability Resource Connection: Call and they'll connect you with the resource you need. 1-800-282-6612

  • Atlanta area Council on Aging: Meal assistance, chore services, home health, personal care, telephone reassurance, legal assistance, health care assistance and many more programs for seniors in Georgia. Please click the link for the contact information of the agency in your area. 

  • Angel Flight: Free personal flights for medical needs, caregivers, domestic abuse, special camps, adoption, people who cannot afford commercial flights.

  • Cherokee County Senior Services: Senior Services provides educational, social, leisure and recreational activities for senior citizens that are looking to have some fun, make some friends and find socialization. Our daily Congregate program includes entertainment, field trips, Bingo, crafts and educational guest speakers.  Lunch is served daily and transportation is available upon request.  Those wishing to participate must be at least 60 years of age and live in Cherokee County.  Call 770-345-2675 to learn more.

  • Georgia Gateway: Go to this website to get answers to questions about health and human services in the Georgia and apply for public assistance benefits such as Medicaid, Child Support Services, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Food Stamps, WIC, Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services, and a variety of other public assistance benefits.

  • North Cobb Senior Center: Door-to-door transportation & lunch may be provided for adults age 60+  based on eligibility.  An assessment is conducted, and eligibility is determined based on need. Call the center for details. Various activities and classes occur each day at the senior center. 

  • PCs for People: Computers for individuals and families that fall below 150% of the poverty line. Check website for listings.

  • Boot Camp for New Dads: Community-based workshop that inspires and equips men to support their mates and personally transform into dads.

  • Breakthrough Atlanta: Grounded in the philosophy of students teaching students, Breakthrough Atlanta is a very special program that enhances the social and academic qualities that help students get ready to transition to-and succeed in-college. It’s like getting a head start on life.

  • Whitefoord Community Center:  Food distribution, healthcare for low-income populations, and early learning and parenting programs.

  • Open Hand: Food assistance for children, seniors, and families, located in Atlanta.

  • Urban Recipe:  A food co-op in Atlanta where volunteers work together to assemble food distribution boxes and are able to then receive the food to take home or distribute to others.

 

Financial Assistance & Counseling​

  • AGPM Family Emergency Assistance Program: Rental and/or utility assistance is available or eligible residents in AGPM communities. Please contact us if you are in need of rental assistance in an AGPM community.

  • Georgia Rental Assistance: For renters who have fallen behind on rent due to Covid-19, this state-run program will help with rental assistance. Apply at the website.

  • Georgia LIHEAP: Utility bill assistance for those living in Georgia

  • The Assistance Fund: Financial assistance programs for children and adults diagnosed with critical or chronic illnesses.
