Last week, The Tree House Foundation was proud to partner with Miami-Dade Fire Rescue to bring life-saving education directly to residents of Notre Dame Apartments in Miami. This hands-on training, held in the community room, was open to all residents ages 13 and up and focused on equipping participants with practical skills that could one day save a life.
Leading the class was Firefighter Jose from Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, who serves as the point of contact for this powerful initiative. The course is part of the Health Emergency Life Protection (HELP) program—a new countywide effort championed by Mayor Daniella Levine Cava in collaboration with Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.
During the two-hour session, attendees learned to:
Recognize and respond to common life-threatening emergencies
Perform hands-only CPR on adults and children
Operate an AED (Automated External Defibrillator)
Identify early signs of a stroke
Stop severe bleeding
Assist in choking emergencies for infants, children, and adults
The training combined interactive lectures with hands-on practice, making it not only educational but also highly engaging. Participants left feeling more confident, empowered, and prepared to take action in an emergency—whether at home, work, or in the community.
At the end of the course, each participant received a HELP Course Completion Certificate from Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, symbolizing their readiness to step in when it matters most.
We are incredibly thankful to Firefighter Jose and the entire Miami-Dade Fire Rescue team for their dedication to public safety and community empowerment. Together, we’re building stronger, safer neighborhoods—one training at a time.
